Amazon.com reviewer,
“I would like to provide credit where credit is due. Thank you very much for assisting me in becoming an advanced course builder on Blackboard (If I may say so myself). Your guidance and assistance was invaluable to me changing courses for the better on Blackboard in my faculties. You guided me in becoming enthusiastic about course building and without you; I would not have developed as much as I have. I experienced you always as someone that would assist me when any crisis might develop. Again, my sincere thanks for your assistance.”

WELCOME TO MY RÉSUMÉ

PERSONAL STATEMENT
As an instructional designer, I get to wear many ‘hats’. During most projects, I need to wear the hat of a graphic designer, the hat of an information architect, the researcher, the trainer, the inventor, the teacher, the student, and the hat of the conductor as project manager. That is why I love my job. The challenge, the versatility, and the creativity never seizes. I learn something new in each task and therefore I continue to grow. I am grateful to have been trained by several experts in my field of Higher Education and continue to pursue knowledge as my career advances. I, of course, have various hats outside of work as well – like wife, wellness-enthusiast, and wordsmith. Two words with resounding power, for me, are these two:
Enjoy life!

EXPERIENCE
SENIOR INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER
University of the Free State, January 2014 - Present
I work with the faculty of The Humanities to research and implement teaching and learning practices within blended courses. I managed the Module Makeover Project within the UFS, which involves the re-design of courses. I also managed the Blackboard Blog within the faculty to provide the latest news on teaching and learning events and strategies at the UFS and beyond. I was accepted into the 2017-18 Cross-institutional ID2ID Peer Mentoring Program for Instructional Designers co-sponsored by Penn State University and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) (http://www.id2id.org). My research interests are: Learner Experience Design and Personalised Learning.

UFS101 LOGISTICS COORDINATOR
University of the Free State, January 2012 - December 2013
As part of the main UFS101 development team, I was 1 of 4 team-members who were responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the UFS101 core curriculum on the UFS' campuses to approximately 4000 students. UFS101 is a multi-disciplinary module presented to all mainstream first-year students. I was the project manager of the 7 Learning Experiences (e.g. The Annual Astronomy Fair, the Chem-Magic Show, and a talk with the Governor of South Africa's Reserve Bank, Gill Marcus). I coordinated all logistics - from content and conceptualisation, liaison with guest speakers, to audio-visual requirements, to venues, to marketing and press, to videography, and sponsors. In 2013 we re-designed the module using a flipped classroom methodology, the 'naked teaching' approach and 'discussion as a way of teaching' methods. I was also the project manager of student attendance, and coordinated the tracking of the 4000 students via a biometric scanning system. Other responsibilities included: developing the UFS101 study guide, one-on-one student consultations, initiating the e-guide migration, and writing UFS101 reports and delivering presentations. Another project that I was a part of, outside of UFS101, was the CTL portal (intranet and website). I led the coordination and implementation thereof for the first 6 months before it was launched in 2013.
VOLUNTEER WORK
Fountainhead Church International, January 2011 - December 2011
I was a part of the team responsible for coordinating outreaches to children and teens in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. This included logistics of school camps, programmes, meals, accommodation, sport and activities. I was also the project manager of the 'warm a body' initiative, and 1 of the speakers at outreach events.
